The file format must match its content
Each file type has an internal "signature" that the system automatically recognizes, regardless of its extension. For example, if you rename an image to .pdf, the system will detect that it is not actually a PDF and will refuse the file.

In practice, as long as you have not manually changed a file's extension, you should not encounter this issue. If your attachment is refused despite a valid extension, try opening the file and re-saving it in the correct format from your software.

What to do if your attachment is refused

If your message is refused with an error related to the attachment:

  1. Verify that the file extension appears in the list of allowed formats above
  2. Make sure the file content matches its extension — avoid renaming a file to change its format
  3. Check that the total message size does not exceed 20 MB
  4. If the problem persists, consider sharing the file via a download link rather than as an attachment
