When you edit a landing page that has already been published, the changes are immediately live as soon as they are saved. This means that any changes you make will be visible to your users without delay.
What should you do if you're working on major changes and aren't ready to make them public?
If you're making significant changes to a page and don't want them to be visible right away, here’s the procedure to follow to keep control over when your changes go live:
- Duplicate the existing page to create a copy where you can make changes without affecting the live version. To learn how to duplicate a page, refer to this article on page duplication.
- Make the necessary changes. Work on the duplicated version of the page, making all the changes you want, without impacting the already published version.
- When you’re ready to publish your changes, follow these steps:
- Modify the URL of the old page. Go to the settings of the old page and change its URL. This will free up the old address so you can use it for the new version of the page.
- Modify the URL of the new page. Change the URL of the duplicated page to match the old page's URL exactly.
- Publish the new page. Once the URL is changed and everything is ready, publish the new version of the page by toggling the switch in your page list (via the Landing Pages menu) or at the top of the editor.
By following these steps, you can safely edit your landing pages without the risk of prematurely publishing changes. Always make sure to review your changes before making them live, and duplicate your pages to work without disrupting the user experience.
